From heart attacks to tornado victims, patients who come to United Hospital’s Emergency Department can be assured they will receive safe, high-quality care day and night.
Staffed by board-certified emergency physicians, United's Emergency Department provides 24-hour emergency care through trauma stabilization rooms and emergency treatment areas within United's Emergency Department. In addition, a fully equipped helicopter landing pad allows United to receive emergency patients by air.
United Hospital’s Emergency Department is recognized as one of the busiest emergency departments in the Twin Cities and serves more than 44,000 people annually. While the Emergency Department responds to life-threatening injuries and illnesses, it also prepares for large-scale natural disasters and worldwide epidemics to ensure it can help serve as the frontline for a community’s defense.

If you have questions about United Hospital's Emergency Department (ED), please call 651-241-8755. The ED is open 24 hours a day and accepts all patients.
United Hospital has Financial Assistance counselors on site who can work with you to access your insurance benefits, or can help you enroll in medical financial asistance programs.
