United Hospital hosts live webcast of InterStim® Therapy implant
Device designed to treat bladder control problems

ST. PAUL, Minn. 02/01/2008--On January 30, United Hospital hosted a live webcast of a new treatment for overactive bladder. A recorded version of the event is available on www.OR-live.com.

During the webcast, Steven Siegel, MD, a board certified urologist and director of the Center for Continence Care at Metro Urology, implanted an InterStim lead into a patient suffering from an overactive bladder. Also known as urge incontinence, the condition involves a strong, sudden need to urinate, followed by leakage.

About Metronic's InterStim® Therapy

Medtronic developed InterStim Therapy using more than 13 years of experience in neurostimulation therapies. The InterStim Therapy system uses mild electrical stimulation of the sacral nerves that influence the behavior of the bladder, sphincter, and pelvic floor muscles. It has been implanted in more than 40,000 people with bladder control problems who have failed or could not tolerate more conservative treatments. For more information, call 1-800 664-5111 (ext. 3150) or visit www.interstim.com.
